Members of the Association shall be persons over 18 years of age who are former employees of INTELSAT/Intelsat.
Active Intelsat staff members are ineligible for membership in the IRAA.
A surviving spouse inherits the Membership of a deceased Member.

MEMBERSHIP
The membership year begins on June 1 and ends on May 31 of the following year. To avoid suspension of certain membership rights, Membership Dues renewal payments should be received no later than July 31,
The key membership rights that are limited include (a) the right to vote on any issue, (b) the right to nominate any member for a position on the Board, (c) the right to be nominated for or to be elected to any position; and (d) the right to make proposals to the IRAA.
A member with Limited Rights retains the right to attend meetings of the General Assembly, attend other IRAA events, e.g., socials, picnics, etc., and receive communications from the Association. Full Membership Rights will be reinstated upon payment of the annual dues.
Effective 17 July 2025, Intelsat was acquired by SES and the above constraint applies to SES henceforth.
If an IRAA member accepts a position with Intelsat SES after joining IRAA, his or her IRAA membership will be suspended for the period of employment with Intelsat. Membership will be reinstated at the end of employment with Intelsat SES. Requirement of Membership Dues renewal payments will also be suspended during the period of Intelsat employment and reinstated following the period of Intelsat employment with any remaining balance of Dues already paid credited to the member at that time.
It is the responsibility of IRAA members to notify the IRAA if they become Intelsat staff members. The IRAA reserves the right to temporarily suspend the IRAA membership of an IRAA member who becomes an Intelsat staff member, contractor or temporary employee.
